Where are they now - page 4
Andrew Mackin February 2007
Life in Cardiff ain’t too bad at all. I have a job working for Legal &
General as a New Business Administrator. I new my years of business studies
would come in handy!
The band is going really well too. The deal that we have been offered is
being mulled over by lawyers, which I’m glad about, other wise, we’d
probably be getting fucked over as we speak! ha ha! Its not that bad, it
just seems as though they try it on and see what they can get away with!
Slimy wee gits!
We are gigging all of the time. It’s great but it leaves little time for
writing. So when I’m at work, I record melodies on my phone and write
rhythms and bits of music on note paper and then play them when I get home.
I’m also putting a young lad callled Rob through his grades on guitar. He
got 75% in his grade 3. He’s now jumped to grade 5. Not the best idea
because he just isn’t at that level but its their money, he’s 15 and wants
to get to grade 8 by the time Uni comes along.
I’m absolutely busting a gut to bring the band up to Manchester to do some
shows! What would be awesome would be to have a bunch of ex-students get
together with their bands to play together, a kind of musical reunion if
you will.
Anyway, I’d love to write more about all kinds but you got stuff to do!
Have a wee butchers at our website and drop us a line.
Be good, man! Miss you all!
Forever in your debt
Andrew

hey pete, hope life is treating you well. i just got back from my big summer holiday with my folks in Cornwall and am now megabusy trying to find acts for an event I’m managing. I’m vice chair/project manager for the simpson memorial hall in Moston which houses a theatre. its gonna be 120 years old this autumn so were having a party(like ya do) to promote it as a community centre. Annemarie Parker is providing some sultry vox and i wondered if any of your students would like the chance to perform. the event is from 12.pm-12.am so there is room for everyone, 30th of sept is the day it happens, so, if you let your class of 2006 know, i’d be grateful.there will be the local rag in attendance on the day so it’s a good oppertunity for anyone cutting their performance teeth! were also in the advertiser this Friday if any one wants more info.check community news section, thanx , look forward to hearing from the ‘moss

….anyway, would just like to say that even up to this day I’m really glad I went to the City College and did a year on Pop music. I think that some courses just miss out on the ‘get to the point’ factor of teaching. Something that the Pop music course did, I mean, this all comes down to the teaching itself and the staff I know (despite the odd hot and sweaty experience!) but I still recommend people to that course as its proven to be very useful on the route to success. so basically, thanks Pete.
As I’ve heard from my manager, this saturday we’re playing at the Manchester University Threshers Ball, Academy One. There are some tickets available to us for any friends of ours who we’d like to come along so this made me think about perhaps offering some to your students, and perhaps take a look backstage. The other lads are all friendly chaps and so I’m sure they’d enjoy some part of the evening (us playing at the least!).
I’ll try to make sure that they’re looked after and if they wish to come for sound check and so on, it could be a good experience for them.
That’s Saturday 23rd September and probably start and finnish fairly late, 22.00 - 03.00 or something like that.
I could give you 4/5 tickets but that may vary as the days tick on. Say 4 for now and if a few more are crying then let me know!
So I’ll leave it with you and I’ll look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks again and best wishes, Dave

Jack Newton - September 2006
I’ve droped out of the rat race of London and moved back home and am currently taking a year out to relax, practise, teach and work. Thinking about going travelling in the new year to the far east to do some volunteer work but i’ll be returning in Aug-Sept time. Might apply to Leeds college of music as they said they’d let me into second year with my HND and my first year of uni so we’ll have to see how that one turns out! Thats pretty much me in a nutt shell so far, post you more in 6 Months I guess!
