A year with Moodle
After 1 year with Moodle at CCM, I wanted to reflect on the experience. I’ve written up a review in my wiki . As our Moodle space does not allow open access it’s not possible to link to examples of usage, but I have included some screen shots. Links would become meaningless very soon as I will have to clear out the space ready for the next academic year.
The most useful part of the review is the feedback from students which I found very enlightening. Several of them highlight the lack of a ‘home page’ in Moodle and the desire to have more features of a social network (I’m addressing this with a ning community to act as a front end to moodle).
The other main benefit they express is about organising their work - always in one place, stored online. What they don’t mention is also interesting; nothing about accessing assignment briefs or handouts for download, nothing about interactive exercises - and I’ve used a lot of these for music language. That doesn’t mean they don’t have a benefit of course.
It’s now 5 weeks after the course has ended and looking at the Moodle logs yesterday (1st August) I notice that students are still in there! If only I could include this data in my attendance figures!
