The power of Moodle
I was always enthusiastic and optimistic about Moodle coming to our institution this year, but I under estimated its potential. Checking the logs after 8 weeks of term the hits on the pages that feature recordings of student work are phenomenal. These are either mp3s of music students have created using Cubase, or video recordings of creative performance work (mainly from the Arranging module). So it certainly celebrates achievement and probably boosts confidence. There’s also plenty of peer support going on - just need to bring out more self-reflection. I’ve been posting ‘in the style of’ self analysis, but what I have to do now is always pose a question where I upload a video to guide the students to respond.
