web 2.0 hits music learning
I woke up to a revolution this morning - or it certainly looks like it. On this ublearnin post I came across a new site called In The Chair. I can’t try it as there is no Mac version yet, but the site and the demo video look awesome and totally convincing. Its selling point is on practicing and playing along with a band online, where everything you need to do that effectively is on the site: sheet music, backing tracks, tutorials and feedback (you play into the app and it monitors you). I can’t wait to try it as it has enormous potential for any area of music learning - not just instrumental technique. All the current examples seem to be classical or jazz, hopefully some rock stuff will come along.
